In order to address the gigantic problem of Youth unemployment and under employment, there is a dire need to ascertain the factors which affecting employment status of youth in Pakistan. Unfortunately, we have no major and nation wide study which helps us to assess and analyze the magnitude of the problems being faced by youth regarding their employment. In view of this gap, I am in process of conducting first ever nation wide Youth baseline study. I have started doing the spadework by establishing contacts with the various institutions to get their expert advice and cooperation in the implementation of the research. I am grateful to Professor. Alia, Ms. Tazeen, Ms. Juneda and Ms Diana for joining me in this research. To study the factors affecting employment status of Youth.

Objectives of study.

To determine the socio-economic profile &personal attributes of youth.
To assess the magnitude of unemployment and under employment among Youth
To explore factors influencing employment status of Youth (social, cultural, political and economical)
To study the effects of unemployment status
To explore job preferences among youth
To record Youth views regarding future aspirations about standard and status
To explore major shortcomings of existing employment services for young people
To explore what measures be adopted by the public and private sector to improve the present status of youth with regard to employment
Universe.

Universe is area of study or place where investigation is conducted.


Geographical Universe.

For geographical universe study shall be carried out in the province of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP.


Human Universe.

Males & females age (15 to 29 years),

(At the moment working on the formula to select number of respondents from each province.)


Sampling Method.

Systematic sampling method will be used in conducting research.

Tool Development.

Keeping in view the study & its nature an interview schedule will be
developed for the purpose of data collection around the various areas of the study. Both open ended & close ended questions will be included in the schedule/interview guide.

Pre-testing.

The interview tool will be tested 5% to 10% total number of respondents excluding actual respondent of the study to ensure reliability.

Editing.

Data will be edited for mistakes and missing information. This will be then classified into categories on basis of their similarities and variation and coded and finally tabulated on data sheets.

Tabulation.
After classification of data tabulation & interpretation will be done.



Analyses & Interpretation.

After tabulation both statistical & descriptive analyses percentage will be calculated before interpretation.



Report Writing.

In the final stage of study, a report will be prepared to present the result of study in sufficient details.
